NPGA Board Meeting in Burlington, Vermont
There was so much to take in and process after hearing from so many thought leaders and experienced professionals in the propane industry. Each conversation reinforced how much innovation and collaboration are shaping the future of propane.
It is inspiring to see so many people volunteer their time, energy, and heart to advance the industry. Their leadership does more than impact businesses; it uplifts people. Attending the National Propane Gas Association Board Meeting truly feels like being part of a family that cares about one another and a future being built together. If you have not attended before, it is well worth your time.
Here are a few of the key takeaways from this year’s meeting:
The Value of Showing Up and Reaching Out
The real value in being present at the NPGA Board Meeting is the opportunity to hear updates on legislative challenges, obstacles, and wins at the local, state, and national levels. Even more importantly, it allows attendees to connect and collaborate. By sharing ideas, learning how others are approaching similar challenges in their own states, and offering feedback and ideas, the industry grows stronger together. It is a reminder that everyone plays a role in helping move the propane industry forward.

AI Panel Sparked Ideas & Excitement
The AI panel, “Using AI in Your Everyday Work-Life,” was very well received and generated strong participation from marketers and service providers. The panel featured our own Steve Gasser from Vivid Propane Marketing, alongside Taylor Alexander of Global Gas, Nathan McShinsky of Eastern Propane & Oil, and Freddie Ridler of Rural Computer Consultants, Inc. The discussion offered valuable insight into how companies are already using AI to improve efficiency, enhance customer experiences, and streamline operations in the propane industry. The enthusiasm and real-world examples shared underscored how technology and innovation are shaping the next chapter of propane.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Everyone was reminded that PERC has already developed excellent career path and exploration resources for middle and high schools. Everyone in the industry can do their part by reaching out to educators in their communities and helping them to use these tools. By helping students discover opportunities in the propane industry, we can inspire the next generation of energy professionals.
Propane Tells a Compelling Story
As the demand on the power grid continues to increase, especially with the rapid growth of artificial intelligence and the data centers that support it, propane tells a compelling story of reliability, affordability, energy security, and sustainability. Propane can play a vital role in supporting backup and alternative power solutions, particularly for critical facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes, and businesses where power interruption is not an option.
Whole-home strategies are another important part of that story. By engaging early with land developers, builders, contractors, architects, HVAC professionals, plumbers, and even homebuyers, propane can be part of the conversation from the start. Planning for features outdoor kitchens, pools, or outbuildings, ensures propane is built into plans and specs, keeping it central to energy conversations now and in the future.
Innovation with Gas Absorption Heat Pumps

In the district sessions, the introduction of Stone Mountain Technologies’ Anesi gas absorption heat pumps offers another exciting step forward in propane innovation. These systems demonstrate how propane continues to evolve within efficient, low-emission heating solutions. Advancements like this strengthen propane’s role as a forward-thinking energy source.

Supporting Others Through NPGAid
The first showing of the NPGAid grant program video was a powerful reminder of how the industry comes together to help members affected by natural disasters. NPGA is going to match the first donations up to $100,000. Help get the word out about this resource with colleagues to ensure that members of NPGA know help is available when it is needed most.
Attending the NPGA Board Meeting reinforced how collaboration, innovation, and shared purpose continue to move the propane industry forward. It was a meaningful reminder that planning ahead and working together keeps propane part of the conversation for generations to come.
The Winter NPGA Board Meeting will be January 27 through January 29 in Henderson, Nevada.
